QUEZON CITY, (PIA) -- The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) has welcomed the appointment and designation of MGen Connor Anthony Canlas Sr as the new Commanding General of the Philippine Air Force, replacing LtGen Allen Paredes who bowed out of service after over 37 years in the military.

MGen Canlas Sr is an experienced and competent officer, having held vital command and staff positions in his military career, including as Vice Commander, PAF and as Commander, Air Defense Command.

He is a member of Philippine Military Academy "Makatao" Class of 1989 and has since displayed outstanding military leadership that will help further propel the Air Force to greater heights.

His appointment also bespeaks of the AFP's competent selection of its leaders who will undertake the mission to uphold our sovereignty and defend our territory from enemies, both foreign and domestic. (AFP/PIA-NCR)
