ZAMBOANGA CITY, Dec 31 (PIA) – More than 40 members of the Indigenous Peoples in the municipality of Roseller T. Lim, Zamboanga Sibugay underwent training to improve and sustain productivity on carabao production, recently.
The Department of Agriculture - Regional Field Office 9 Kabuhayan at Kaunlaran ng Kababayang Katutubo (4K) Program conducted the training on Carabao Production to enhance the participants’ knowledge and skills in sustainable carabao production and prepare the 4K beneficiaries for the intervention to be given by the program to improve their productivity.
The participants learned the different components in raising a carabao such as different breeds and selection, care and management, and the proper utilization of farm animals.
Technical experts from the Provincial Veterinary Officer of the Province of Zamboanga Sibugay, Efren M. Davin, DVM served as the resource speaker in the said training.
Juvy Guatno, DA9 4K focal person said that the training will capacitate the 4K members to properly utilize carabaos as a source of income.
“It will directly accelerate the livelihood of this sector as our training is part of the capability component of the 4K. This will also provide opportunities for other effective production ways to augment their farm incomes,” Guatno said.
