CEBU CITY, Cebu, Dec. 3 (PIA) -- The Regional Development Council 7 (RDC-7) along with the National Economic Authority 7 (NEDA-7) and Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency (PNVSCA) announced the winners for the 2021 Outstanding COVID-19 Volunteers in Central Visayas.
Romualdo Señeris II, a volunteer for a non-government organization based in Negros Oriental, was awarded the "Most Outstanding COVID-19 Volunteer" for the Individual Category.
Among his contributions include initiating trainings and capacity-buildings for local government units and other concerned organizations, and conducting contact tracing, data analysis, assessment, and interpretation of COVID-19 cases.
Meanwhile, the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation, Inc. (RAFI) was announced as the winner for the "Most Outstanding COVID-19 Volunteer" for the Organization Category.
The organization held activities such as donation of food packs, grocery items, sleeping/care kits, PPEs, and other COVID-19 essential items, distributed assistance for the allowance of Cebu City Health Care workers, and provided bicycles, shuttle services, and accommodation to frontliners as well as ambulance service to COVID-19 patients and home medical service.
The following regional nominees were also recognized as the top four finalists for the Individual Category, namely: Felix Taguiam, Jocelyn Pesquera, Marina Viniegas, and Barbara Caumeran.
Nominees of the Organization Category who made it to the top four ranking are Project Balik Buhay (PBB), Sustainable Energy and Enterprise Development for Communities (Seed4Com), Philippine Red Cross-Bogo Chapter, and St. Vincent Frontliner's Kitchen Project.
The Search for the 2021 Most Outstanding COVID-19 Volunteers was conducted from Sept. 1 to Oct. 30, 2021 to recognize the significant contributions of individual and organization volunteers in mitigating the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and to honor their volunteering accomplishments and invaluable service essential to the country's response to the pandemic.
The awarding of winners and announcement of nominees were done during the RDC-7 Fourth Quarter Full Council Meeting held Dec. 3 via Zoom. (RGC/PIA7)
