KIDAPAWAN CITY, Cotabato Province (PIA)—The local government unit of Kidapawan City implements new ways to address the increasing number of confirmed coronavirus disease 2019 cases for the past days.
During the COVID-19 Health Cluster meeting on Monday, City Mayor Joseph Evangelista said the city government is on top of the situation in ensuring that the needs of COVID-19 patients are well-provided.
As of January 23, the city recorded 148 active COVID-19 cases.
“What’s good is that 60 percent of the 148 are undergoing home quarantine. This means they are asymptomatic,” Evangelista said adding the city government distributes COVID-19 Care Kits to those on home quarantine.
Each kit contains one bottle of alcohol, pads of paracetamol and Vitamin C, digital thermometer, pulse oximeter, one box of face masks, milo, and calling card with hotline numbers of the City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit.
Meanwhile, the local chief executive said he has instructed concerned offices to provide additional beds in isolation facilities as preparation in case there will be a surge in COVID-19 moderate cases.
“We maintain our isolation facilities. For now, we have 106 beds that can cater patients with moderate case, but we will increase our bed capacity to 130,” Evangelista emphasized.
Meanwhile, the official announced that as of January 21, a total of 104,202 individuals or 94.33 percent of the target eligible population in Kidapawan City are now fully vaccinated. (With reports from CIO-Kidapawan)
