Taguig lgu enhances vax program, uses ‘malasakit’ approach

PARAÑAQUE CITY, (PIA) --The City Government of Taguig, through its Safe City Task Force and Vaccination Task Force, has vaccinated more individuals who were flagged at the vaccination checkpoint set up at General Santos Avenue in Barangay North Daang Hari, and at C5 Waterfun in Barangay Pinagsama.

The vaccination checkpoint was in line with the implementation of restrictions for the unvaccinated individuals mandated by the national government.

The City Government of Taguig, however, chose to implement a malasakit approach in its checkpoints and ensured that residents who want to be vaccinated may have easier access to inoculation.

Those who were willing to be vaccinated were brought to vaccination hubs to get their first jab of the COVID-19 vaccine, while those who refused were referred to Taguig Mega Swabbing Facility to get tested and were provided a shuttle going home. Unvaccinated individuals may also present a negative COVID-19 test result at the checkpoint.

The lgu allows unvaccinated individuals to get out of their residence to buy essential goods, as well as those individuals whose medical conditions prevent them from being inoculated.

Taguig’s enhanced vaccination checkpoints are strategically located in areas considered highly vulnerable to COVID-19 transmissions such as public transportation and closed spaces, and areas that have seen increased COVID-19 cases and low vaccination rates based on the City’s latest scientific data.

On its first day of the implementation a total of 450 individuals agreed to be inoculated in the City's vaccination hubs. (PIO Taguig/PIA-NCR)
