TUPAD reaches health workers in Eastern Samar

BORONGAN CITY (PIA) -- The program of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) during this pandemic named Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) reached some 37 barangay health workers in Eastern Samar.

On January 25, Fe Norma Valuis, DOLE provincial director and Josefina Paligutan, provincial social welfare and development officer  distributed the checks worth P4,880 each to the 37 health workers.

The health workers worked for 15 days cleaning in their barangays and rendering duties in response to the pandemic.

The batch of health workers profusely thanked the national and the provincial governments for the financial assistance.

DOLE has been very responsive in the delivery of TUPAD programs to different communities.

TUPAD is a community-based assistance that provides emergency employment to displaced underemployed and seasonal workers.

Under this program, the workers are employed for at least 10 days but not exceeding 30 days.

They are then paid based on the minimum wage in their areas. (NBQ/PIA E. Samar with PSWDO)
