Chocolate treats await kid vaccinees in Makati

PASIG CITY, (PIA) -- Makati City Mayor Abby Binay announced that children aged 5 to 11 years old will receive premium chocolate treats after getting their vaccine against COVID-19.

The sweet treat is meant to reward them and, at the same time, make them happy,” Mayor Abby said.

The mayor said the city will soon start the vaccination rollout for the said age group at SM Makati and Nemesio I. Yabut Elementary School (NIYES). These venues will serve as the exclusive vaccination sites for five to 11-year-olds.

The “no walk-in” policy will be strictly implemented, she added.

Binay urged parents to have their children vaccinated against COVID-19. “They are among the vulnerable sectors that can suffer serious complications if they get infected.”

Parents or guardians can register their children online and wait for notification on their schedule before going to the vaccination site to avoid unnecessary travel for their children.

To register, go to covid19vaccine.safemakati.com, then register children under the Makati resident, non-voter category, or non-Makati resident category.

The vaccination for children 5 to 11 years old will begin on Monday, February 7, in pilot areas in Metro Manila.

Meanwhile, Mayor Abby also encouraged everyone to take their booster shots for the COVID-19 vaccine to ensure optimal protection against the new variants of the virus.

The city has opened the booster registration for everyone who wishes to get vaccinated in the city. All they have to do is register in our portal then go to the nearest vaccination site,” she added.

As of January 21, 2022, the city government reports some 488,858 fully vaccinated Makatizens, while the city has already administered 123,696 booster shots. (PIA-NCR)
