CORTES, Bohol, Jan. 28 (PIA) -- Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) breached the one-thousand-mark anew on Jan. 28.

In its COVID-19 Update on Jan. 28, the Bohol Inter Agency Task Force (BIATF) for the Management of Emerging Infectious Disease said the active COVID-19 cases in Bohol reached 1,084, marking another resurgence of the disease that has shown two surges already since May 2020.

Of the total, however, only 12 patients are showing severe symptoms, 111 are moderate cases, 639 are mild, and 287 have remained asymptomatic.

Some 35 more of these patients who are confirmed to have the virus through the Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) could not be classified as strictly manifesting either of the symptoms.

The day’s figure is 190 cases more compared to the data released by BIATF on Jan. 25.

Within the month, the new cases showed no pattern, recording its highest new cases of confirmed COVID -19 on Jan. 20 at 102 compared to zero cases recorded on Jan. 22.

The Department of Health (DOH) has remained steadfast in its position that there has not been any recorded Omicron case in Bohol.

Two Boholanos who tested positive for the Omicron variant have been cleared of the disease after their quarantine in Cebu before they were allowed to come home to Bohol, DOH said.

According to the BIATF, deaths caused by COVID-19 have reached a total of 596 as of Jan. 29, starting from May 2020 when the first COVID-19 casualty was recorded in Bohol.

In the past week until January 29, 11 deaths have been recorded due to COVID-19.

As to the cumulative total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases, BIATF noted that 21,778 Boholanos who tested positive after their swab samples were sent for laboratory analysis.

NO VACCINE CARD, NO ENTRY. Bent on advancing their vaccination campaign efforts, some LGUs like Cebu City has given access for fully vaccinated individuals to business establishments. The move is seen as an added motivation for people who chose to get inoculated. (PIA Bohol)
