PSA Sothern Leyte bares Civil Registration Month activities

MAASIN CITY (PIA) -- The Philippine Statistics Authority in Southern Leyte, in coordination with the Southern Leyte Municipal Civil Registrar’s Association (SOLEMCRA), has lined up a series of activities for the month-long observance of this year’s 32nd Civil Registration Month.

“Training workshop on manual of instruction was conducted last February 2-3, the training aimed at capacitating city/municipal civil registrars and staff in properly accomplishing civil registry forms such as birth, marriage, death, and others,” Eutemio Llevado Jr., chief statistical specialist, said.

On Februaru 4, an online launching led by the PSA regional office was held participated by the six (6) provinces as well as all the local civil registrars around the region, Llevado reported during the Kapihan sa PIA interview Wednesday, February 9.

Other activities included hanging of streamer, symposium, information dissemination, mass wedding, mobile registration, civil registration quiz, poster and essay writing contest, and free registration of birth, marriage, and death.

“As a culmination activity, there will be a tree planting on February 28 at Danao Forest Park in Brgy. Malapoc Norte, to be participated by employees and staff of PSA Soutern Leyte provincial office, Llevado also said.

President Corazon Aquino signed Proclamation No. 682 in February 1990 which paved the way for the annual observance of Civil Registration Month (CRM). The theme for this year is, “Improving Civil Registration and Vital Statistics Implementation Strategies Through Digital Transformation.”

In addition, Pres. Benigno Aquino III signed Proclamation No. 1106 which declared the years 2015 to 2024 as Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) Decade.

“The observance of CRM reminded the entire citizenry of our duty to register vital events that would be birth, marriage, and death,” Llevado pointed out. (LDL/MMP/PIA8-Southern Leyte)
