Virac, Catanduanes (PIA) - - As part of the celebration of the National Arts Month this February, the Local Government Unit here has launched an art exhibit dubbed as “Sining Pandemya” which is open from February 14 to 19, 2022 at Center Mall, this town.
With the theme: “Pamanang Lokal: Binhi ng Kuluturang Pilipino,” the activity featured artworks of 40 local artists which is an initiative of the Municipal Tourism Office headed by Municipal Tourism Officer Mariel Torzar.
She said the event is part of the mandate of the government to preserve and promote culture and arts.
Mayor Sinforoso Sarmiento Jr., on his part, assured the LGU's support to the artists and he looks forward to some partnerships to help showcase their artworks to a broader audience.
Meanwhile, the Provincial Government of Catanduanes thru the Catanduanes Tourism Office officially kicked-off the National Arts Month celebration through the launching of Unity Dance Cover “Bagani”, featuring the Catandungan Cultural Troupe, Hilwag Dance Troupe of Catanduanes National High School and Sto. Niño Sinulog Dancers.
According to Provincial Tourism Officer Carmel B. Garcia, the activity aims to highlight the artistic prowess, talent and creativity of Catandungan artists as they take pride and showcase their passion in literary arts, visual arts and music while channeling inspiration and expressing hope in these trying times.
She also urged the public to serve as the light and source of inspiration to others while responding creatively to the harsh realities brought by life and environs. (EaB-PIA5/Catanduanes)
