CEBU CITY, CEBU, Feb. 24 (PIA) -- The Department of Tourism Central Visayas (DOT-7) recognized the services given by various DOT-accredited hotels and accommodation establishments in Central Visayas that served as quarantine facilities in the region at the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The tourism department led by DOT-7 Regional Director Shalimar Hofer Tamano held a Service Excellence Awards for Quarantine Hotels and Quarantine Facilities for the year 2020-2021 on Feb. 23 at Bayfront Hotel, Cebu City.
The awarding was attended by officials and representatives of different hotels, DOT partner agencies, industry stakeholders, and the media.
A total of 44 quarantine hotels were awarded with service excellence awards.
Among the quarantine hotels and accommodation establishments who received the award include Bai Hotel, Bayfront Hotel, Shangrila Mactan Resort and Spa, InnGoldBerry Suites and Hotel, GoldenPeak Hotel, Sarrosa International Hotel, Marco Polo Plaza Cebu, Radisson Blue Hotel, Castle Peak Hotel, and Waterfront Hotel and Casino.

According to DOT, the said hotels passed the criteria set for the service excellence awards which included the following; no violation of the protocols set by the Department of Health (DOH), Department of Tourism (DOT), and Bureau of Quarantine (BOQ); received complaints against these quarantine hotels were irrelevant and were fully resolved; and they were allowed by the BOQ and were given accreditation by the DOT.
DOT-7 Regional Director Shalimar Hofer Tamano, in his message, expressed his gratitude for the efforts done by these quarantine hotels and accommodation establishments.
“I want to congratulate all the winners for the hard work and for the service you have provided to our fellow Filipinos during the pandemic," said Tamano
“This is a unique partnership especially of what happened to us for the past two years. It is just really amazing how the government and the private sector worked together in putting and regulating these quarantine hotels. Again, thank you for helping us and we would like also to thank our partners, BOQ, DOH, MCIA, and DILG," he added.
During the event, DOT-7 also presented a Certificate of Appreciation to its partner agencies that helped them regulate the quarantine hotels during the pandemic, such as the DILG, BOQ, DOH-7, and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration. (RGC/PIA7)
