Sibugay starts expanded limited face-to-face classes

IPIL, Zamboanga Sibugay, Mar 04 (PIA) - A total of 33 schools across the province implements the expanded limited face to face (E-LF2F) and have started classes on March 1, 2022.

Assistant Schools Division Superintendent Aurelio Santinas said during the PIA Kapihan program that as of March 1, the Department of Education-Sibugay has recorded a total of 8,700 learners in the province, wanting to participate in the face-to-face (f2f) classes.

He, however, clarified that only 20 students will be accommodated per classroom and classes are only held in the morning.

“Sa umaga lang ang klase. Ang hapon ay for disinfection of classrooms and checking of papers and other paper works of the teachers and distribution of modules,” Santinas said.

He said, as per guidelines, schools implementing the E-LF2F are allowed only four hours a day to conduct the face-to-face learning sessions.

He said, unvaccinated children are also allowed to do f2f classes as long as their parents submit a signed consent allowing their children to participate in the f2f classes.

Santinas added that vaccinated teachers are given priority to teach in the f2f classes, while unvaccinated teachers may also hold classes, but are required to submit negative antigen /RT-PCR test results every two weeks.

Santinas assured that all the schools implementing the E-LF2F have complied with the health requirements were assessed and validated by DepEd and concerned agencies and are given clearance to hold f2f Classes.

He enumerated some of the requirements such as presence of health equipment and facilities in the school; hand washing facility, water supply, temperature check, arrangement of chairs in the classrooms should be one (1) to two (2) meters away/apart; and well ventilated classrooms. Schools should also have a separate entrance and exit gates. 

“Matag classroom dapat naay sanitary health kit like alcohol, temperature check and others, and should have a designated school clinic and isolation center.”

More schools in the province are seen to also go into f2f classes in the coming days as DepEd Sibugay continue to assess and validate schools that has manifested its intentions and submitted requirements to the education department.
