DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental, March 8 (PIA) -- Officials from the World Health Organization (WHO) visited Dumaguete City and conferred with some city government officials on the interventions implemented by the city to combat COVID-19.
Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo and City Health Officer Dr. Maria Sarah Talla briefed the consultants Dr. Momizanur Rahman, Rowena Capistrano, and Woody Jay Apa of WHO on the strategies and gains the city has been practicing in the fight against COVID-19.
The number of COVID-19 cases in the city have declined significantly to single-digit cases, while the city logged a vaccination rate of 144% of the target population for herd immunity.
Dumaguete City also ranked first among local government units with the highest vaccination rate both in Negros Oriental and Central Visayas region.
With these, the city government has already adjusted the curfew hours allowing bars and entertainment establishments to operate until 12:00 midnight and for essential services to operate 24 hours.
As of February, more than 139,248 eligible residents and workers have already been fully vaccinated against COVID-19. (JCT/PIA7 Negros Oriental)
