ISABELA CITY, Basilan, Mar 21 (PIA) – The Local Chief Executive of Lamitan City reported in her State of the City Report recently that Lamitan City has capped milestone in financial administration since 2013.
“We are happy to inform you that our revenue from local sources reached 215.7 Million. We have posted an average growth rate of 20% from 2013-2021 and we have consistently exceeded the target set by the Bureau of Local Government Finance,” Mayor Rose U. Furigay said.
She added that Lamitan City’s Real Property Tax collection make up to 27 million pesos of the total collection for the period 2013-2021 which she said a proof that business is good in Lamitan City.
Mayor Furigay also stressed that Lamitan City now has a robust economy that nourishes the growth and development of businesses.
“With 1,344 business permits issued in 2021, we surpassed our 2013 data by 60.6%. Despite the pandemic, we still have seen an increase in our business registration of around 1.19% in 2021. Based on our records, we have registered 10 gasoline stations, 20 hardware stores, 31 restaurants, 19 pharmacies, 42 pawnshops, 12 lending institutions and many more. This is proof that business is both highly profitable and relatively easy in Lamitan City,” Mayor Furigay stressed.
Mayor Furigay also reported that under her administration, Lamitan City is one among the first LGUs who utilized the Electronic Business Permits and Licensing System under the Department of Information and Communication Technology (DICT).
“Kung noon ay inaabot tayo ng tatlong araw sa pagproseso ng ating mga Business Permits, ngayon ay within a day ay ma proseso na dahil sa ating Business One Stop Shop o BOSS. Basta kumpleto lang po ang mga requirements nyo,” Furigay explained.
She further said that Lamitan City will soon have it’s BOSS Building beside the city hall to serve their business owners and to better deliver their frontline services to the public.
Mayor Rose Furigay also announced that LGU Lamitan was recognized as Most Competitive City in BARMM by the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Ministry of Trade Industry and Tourism. (RVC/NDR/PIA9-Basilan with reports from LGU Lamitan)
