Korean Cultural Center PH opens new home in Taguig

PARAÑAQUE CITY, (PIA) -- The Korean Cultural Center (KCC) in the Philippines on Wednesday, March 23, formally opened their new home at 59 Bayani Rd. Fort Bonifacio Taguig City.

The KCC in Taguig is the 20th Korean Cultural Center to open and operates both under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) and the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the Philippines.

It aims to expand the understanding and appreciation of Korean culture and promote a more active people-to-people exchange between Korea and the Philippines.

The new location features 6 floors designed with Korean-styled interiors. It houses cultural exhibitions, library, classrooms, kitchen classroom, studio, and offices. Currently, KCC also exhibits here the first kinetic media art exhibition in the Philippines—Punghwa: Light of ASEAN.

The event was attended by Ambassador of Korea to the Philippines Kim Inchul, Korean Cultural Center in the Philippines Director Im Young-a, Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat, National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) Chairman Arsenio Lizaso, DepEd Bureau of Curriculum Development Office - Director IV Jocelyn Andaya, Philippine Expeditionary Forces to Korea (PEFTOK) President Miguel Villamor, Philippine Expeditionary Forces to Korea (PEFTOK) Defense Attaché Lt. Col. Bae Jung Hoon, United Korean Community Association in the Philippines (UKCA) Chairman Sim Jaesim, UKCA Vice President Yoo Kyunghwa, and DFA Assistant Secretaries Nathaniel G. Imperial & Eduardo Menez.

Taguig City Mayor Lino Cayetano, together with Vice Mayor Ricardo “Ading” Cruz and SK Federation Chair Councilor Maryruth “Beng” Maximo also attended the event.
