DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental, April 5 (PIA) -- Dumaguete City has organized this year’s third triathlon on April 10 in partnership with local triathletes’ organization, Larga Biya.
With Dumaguete City's 129% vaccination rate and the Department of Tourism’s directive to start opening tourism activities, the city started to prepare various sports-tourism events.
Some 560 triathletes from all over the country are expected to compete on April 10 from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at the Pantawan, Rizal Boulevard, this city.
This is the third triathlon organized by the city since 2018 and has now resumed after two years of hiatus due to the pandemic.
Dumaguete City was earlier awarded Organizer of the Year (LGU category) and Dumaguete Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo hailed as Sports Tourism Personality of the Year during the 3rd Philippine Sports Tourism Awards in November 2019.
The city was bestowed the same distinction in 2018 for its track record in hosting local, national, and international sports events which promoted sports-tourism and drew visitors to Dumaguete City. (JCT/PIA7 Negro Oriental)
