PDEA rewards 13 'private eye' informants

QUEZON CITY, (PIA) -- The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) gave ₱10,262,337.03 monetary rewards to 13 confidential informants who provided information that led to 22 successful anti-drug operations and seizure of voluminous amounts of illegal drugs.

The granting of financial incentives is under PDEA “Operation Private Eye”, a citizen-based information collection program designed to encourage the active participation of private citizens to report illegal drug activities in their communities.

PDEA Director General Wilkins M Villanueva gave the monetary rewards to the informants who were identified only through their code names, and wore masks to protect their anonymity, during the awarding ceremony held Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at the PDEA National Headquarters in Quezon City.

The Private Eye Rewards Committee is composed of members from the academe, non-government organizations, law enforcement, religious and business sectors, who deliberates and approves the granting of cash rewards to confidential informants.

“Operation Private Eye” is an incentivized program to embolden the citizenry to come out in the open and report illegal drug activities happening in their neighborhood with guarantees of anonymity, confidentiality and security,” Villanueva said. (PDEA/PIA-NCR)
