Efforts to expand ROTC programs in Metro Manila continues

CALOOCAN CITY (PIA) -- The National Capital Region Regional Community Defense Group (NCRRCDG) of the Reserve Command, Philippine Army recently conducted a Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) planning conference for Pateros Technological College (PTC) and Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Marikina (PLMar) administrators at the unit's headquarters in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City.

NCRRCDG Commander Col. Ricky P. Bunayog discussed the requirements for the activation of the PTC and PLMar ROTC Units.

The activity is part of NCRRCDG’s efforts for the expansion of ROTC programs in Metro Manila-based higher educational institutions.

The ROTC is one of three components of the National Service Training Program, the national civic education and defense preparedness program for college students.

ROTC aims to provide military education and training for college students to mobilize them in times of national emergencies.

Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Romeo S. Brawner, Jr., earlier said that the command is pushing for the recruitment of quality reservists that will effectively complement regular ground forces. (OACPA and Reserve Command, Philippine Army/ PIA-NCR)
