Citizens seek LGU intervention in LTO-7, motor dealers rift

TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol, May 27 (PIA)  -- Amid the continuing rift between the motorcycle dealers and the Land Transportation Office (LTO) Region 7, motorcycle owners here have sought local government officials' intervention to help resolve the conflict.

“It is time for the local government unit officials to intervene, if only to make the LTO and motorcycle dealers settle their differences and leave the innocent motorcycle buyers in peace,” appealed Geralyn Janette Corona, whose motorcycle she bought years ago still sports a temporary plate.

Several motorcycle buyers share Corona’s position, asking for the immediate mediation between the two parties.

The LTO-7 and the motorcycle dealers have been trading accusations, leading to court cases that remain to be resolved.

LTO-7 Regional Director Victor Caindec said on May 22 that the office would be sending twice the team it sent to Bohol last time.

This after the social media post of a woman accusing the LTO regional director of corruption went viral online.

The LTO and the dealers have been locked in a legal battle as the dealers accused the LTO of asking money for every motorcycle bought from the dealers, while the LTO accused the dealers of delaying the processing of vehicle registration documents to be assured of full payment of the purchased vehicles.

Amid this, citizens have asked local government to intervene quickly. (RAHC/PIA7 Bohol)
