GSIS urges members to download Touch App

DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental, May 30 (PIA) -- Members and pensioners of the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) can now keep track of their member, loan, and claim records in their mobile devices through the GSIS Touch App.

GSIS Vice President for Visayas Operations Deity Manampan urged members and pensioners in Negros Oriental to download the application, which he described as similar to a GSIS kiosk but more handy and convenient for the user.

“If you have your GSIS touch, there’s no need for you to go to a GSIS branch 24/7. Sa GSIS Touch, it’s for your convenience. Sa balay ra ka nakikita mo na (You can access while at home),” Manampan said.

Through the GSIS Touch App, prospective retirees can generate their tentative pension and retirement claims, while active members can also access different loan services of the agency and generate a tentative computation on their loan payments.

Aside from this, active members can view their other claims and their member service records and check if their agencies have paid their premiums regularly or if there are arrears, underpayments, and overpayments in their records on a daily basis.

Members can alert their respective GSIS Agency Authorized Officers (AAOs) in their offices on these concerns and correct discrepancies later on.

The app also enables members to file for multi-purpose loans and other loan offerings of the agency.

Manampan said that downloading the app is relevant and timely as the country is still facing a pandemic and using the app would reduce the volume of people transacting at the GSIS offices.

Meanwhile, GSIS Dumaguete Branch Manager Igmidio Ponay reminded GSIS members to be mindful of the security measures to protect their devices and accounts in the application.

“Be careful because this is a powerful tool. Lain unya ang makabalo sa inyong password. Lain unya ang makaabli niini unya mahibong na lang ka gi-loanan na diay ka (Someone might know your password and access your device and you’ll be surprised that someone has filed a loan on your behalf, so let’s be careful),” Ponay said.

In cases when a member's account has been hacked and the hacker applied for a loan, Manampan assured that the members are still in control of their money since the GSIS E-card, which is used in withdrawing the money, is still with the member and they can immediately report dubious transactions to their AAOs and terminate the application.

The GSIS official said the app is still undergoing developments, but it is working and there will be additional services or features which will be integrated in the app in the future.

The GSIS Touch App is available on Android and App Store.  (RAL/PIA7 Negros Oriental)
