QUEZON CITY, (PIA) -- Some 60 individuals from invited Metro Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MMDRRMC) member agencies and other organizations in the National Capital Region completed the Public Service Continuity Planning (PSCP) Training Course presented by the Office of Civil Defense-NCR.
Director Romulo M. Cabantac, Jr., Senior Vice Chairperson, MMDRRMC and Regional Director, OCD NCR graced the opening of the training course held from 23 to 28 May 2022, through blended learning.
In his welcome remarks, Dir. Cabantac emphasized the importance of having a Public Service Continuity Plan (PSCP) in the agency.
A PSCP is a document containing strategies and mechanisms of a government agency / public sector organization to ensure continuous delivery of public services amidst any disruption. The customers of the government are the general public.

Agencies namely: DOLE NCR, Manila International Airport Authority, National Library of the Philippines, OWWA NCR, DHSUD NCR, PIA NCR, PSA NCR, UP PGH, and Philippine Airforce were represented in the training. Video teleconferencing and workshops through Zoom and self-paced and online evaluation through the Training Information Management System (IMS) were among the methodologies utilized.
Resource speakers from Quezon City DRRMO, Valenzuela City DRRMO, and invited Business Continuity Consultants shed light on various PSCP crafting topics as well as how to accomplish the forms that will form part of the plan.
The participants acknowledged the knowledgeable resource speakers for the learnings acquired through video teleconferencing and self-paced learning.
OCD-NCR Capacity Building and Training Section (CBTS) organized and facilitated the training.
The participants and resource speakers appreciated the support of the CBTS team in all training-related concerns most especially on the use of the Training IMS.
PSCP Training Course is one of the programmed training courses of the region for 2022 under DRRM. It aims to highlight internal capacities, recovery requirements and strategies of an agency or institution that leans toward the continuous delivery of quality public services during an emergency or disaster.
