DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental, June 9 (PIA) -- The Dumaguete City Health Office (CHO) has reported that 15,527 eligible residents in the city have already received booster shots against COVID-19.
Of the total, 1,093 residents have received their second booster shots at the CHO, which is for now only limited to frontline healthcare workers, senior citizens (60 years old and above) and immune-compromised populations.
Dr. Maria Sarah Talla of CHO said 201,516 doses of COVID-19 vaccines have already been administered to 92,984 eligible residents (including those who got their booster shots) using Sinovac, Astrazeneca, Moderna, Sinopharm, Pfizer and the single dose Janssen jabs as of June 7.
The city obtained the highest vaccination rate of 141.56% in Central Visayas, exceeding the 80.67% goal for herd immunity.
Talla also said 157,619 residents and workers have been vaccinated which is much higher than the target of 111,348 individuals.
For now, none of the 30 component barangays in the city has any active COVID-19 case as no new case was confirmed by CHO and the hospitals.
Presidential Communications Operations Office Sec. Martin Andanar has clarified that Dumaguete City is among the six towns or city placed under Alert Level 1 in Negros Oriental from June 1 to June 15, 2022.
The other towns under Alert Level 1 include Amlan (Ayuquitan), Bacong, Dauin,) Valencia (Luzurriaga), and Zamboanguita.
Based on the National Inter-Agency Task Force guidelines, areas under Alert Level 1 will have no restrictions in terms of indoor and outdoor capacities for business establishments and everyone can undertake intrazonal and interzonal travel without restrictions to age and even comorbidities.
