LAOAG CITY, June 12 (PIA) – Mayor Michael Marcos Keon has taken his oath of office for his second term as Laoag City Mayor.
Governor Matthew Marcos Manotoc officiated Keon’s oath taking at the City Auditorium on June 11.

“The people of Laoag has spoken and I believe that all the incumbent officials are listening. We will follow what the people want from us so we will live up to the expectations as much as possible. Let’s forget about the past, let’s live in the present, and move into the future,” Keon said.


Keon said that with his second term in office, he will focus more on agriculture programs and infrastructure projects.
To ensure food safety, the city mayor said he is planning on implementing that all barangays will have their own vegetable gardens.
“I want as much as possible for the people to be self-sufficient, especially na prices are rising and this is why it’s important that LGUs that are agricultural in nature to really maximize their agricultural outputs,” Keon said.
Councilor Juan Conrado Respicio II also took his oath of office on the same day.
During the 2022 National and Local Elections, Keon won with a 160 margin of votes against his leading opponent former Mayor Chevylle Fariñas.
Keon garnered a total of 25,502 votes while Fariñas finished with 25,342.
Meanwhile, mayoral candidate and outgoing Vice Mayor Vicentito “Toto” Lazo ranked third in the race with 16,095 total votes.
