221 TUPAD beneficiaries in Kidapawan help fight dengue

KIDAPAWAN CITY, Cotabato Province (PIA) -- The Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa ating Displaced/Disadvantaged Workers (TUPAD) program beneficiaries here are helping the city government in its campaign against dengue.

The Public Employment Service Office (PESO) said it has already deployed the 221 new beneficiaries in different barangays, assigning 100 of them to different puroks of Barangay Poblacion which has the highest number of dengue cases.

The beneficiaries belong to the informal sector, one of the sectors that was severely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the PESO, one of the major tasks of the beneficiaries is to clean the surroundings and destroy mosquito-breeding sites.

The June 10, 2022 data of the City Health Office (CHO) recorded a total of 307 dengue cases, of which most of these came from Barangay Poblacion with 85 cases.

City Mayor Joseph Evangelista recently urged the residents to be one with the city government in the campaign against dengue.

“I am grateful for the support of the TUPAD beneficiaries in our campaign against dengue. Now that more and more residents are helping in our campaign, we can soon secure a dengue-free environment,” the official said.

The CHO is strengthening its information campaign to equip the residents with additional information about dengue. Also, the barangay local government units in the city are doing massive clean-up drives in their respective area to ensure people's safety against the disease. (With reports from CIO-Kidapawan)
