DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental, June 20 (PIA) -- Dumaguete City has reported that none of the 30 component barangays in the city has any active COVID-19 case as no new case was also confirmed as of June 17, 2022.
Of the 5,809 total number of COVID-19 cases reported since the city was affected by the pandemic, about 5,643 have recovered and 166 deaths were linked to the coronavirus infection from Jan. 30, 2020 to June 17, 2022.
City health workers continue to reach more eligible and interested residents, particularly the elderly and the persons with disabilities, through house-to-house vaccination drive in the barangays that includes the administration of 1st and 2nd booster shots.
This is in compliance with the directive of Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo to vaccinate interested residents who are not able to go to the vaccination sites to further control any outbreak of COVID-19 infection and prevent deaths.
As the number of vaccinated individuals continues to increase beyond the 80.67% goal for herd immunity set by the Department of Health, there is also a noted decline of COVID-19 cases to almost zero.
The National Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases placed Dumaguete City under Alert Level 1, allowing most business establishments, transport sector, and religious gatherings to resume their operations or activities in full capacity while observing the minimum health standards.
