KORONADAL CITY, South Cotabato (PIA) -- The Philippine Army, in partnership with several non-government organizations, helped bring health services to indigent residents of Brgy. Lambuling, Tboli over the weekend.
Cpt. Krisjuper Andreo Punsalan, commanding officer of the 11th Special Forces Company said some 123 residents of the village received free medical and other services from the army and partner NGOs.
Residents of the village received services which included free-eye checkup and vision screening, free reading eyeglasses, medical checkup with medicines and vitamins, diabetes screening and circumcision.
According to Punsalan, the activity, which coincided with the 60th anniversary of the Philippine Army’s Special Forces Regiment (Airborne), was also part of their efforts to engage all sectors of the society to end insurgency.
“The army continues to encourage non-government organizations and all other sectors of the society to help the government in the campaign against terrorism,” Punsalan said.
“This activity also exemplifies the NTF-ELCAC’s whole-of-nation approach to mobilize all sectors of society to be free and resistant to communist terrorist groups mass base building operations and infiltration activities,” he added
Participating groups included the Lion’s Club International Koronadal, Rotary Club Koronadal Central, Sultan Kudarat Lodge Masonic No. 348, Order of the Amaranth, Kabalikat Radiocom Philippines, Youth For Peace Tboli Chapter, 1204th CDC, 12RCDG, ARESCOM, and Dr. Budak Calixton Dela Cruz Optical Group.
