QUEZON CITY, (PIA) -- Junior and senior high school students showed off their skills and creativity to promote disaster resiliency during the On-the-Spot Poster Making and Recycling Contest in observance of the National Disaster Resilience Month 2022.
The Office of Civil Defense-National Capital Region, in collaboration with the Department of Education-NCR, facilitated the activity on July 11, held at the Valera Hall, DepEd NCR in Quezon City.
Representatives of various DepEd Schools Division Offices in NCR submitted their posters and recycled entries from June 1 to 30, 2022. The top 10 poster-making entries joined the on-the-spot contest, and the top 11 recycled entries participated in the exhibit and final judging.
Here are the winners of the event:
Poster-making Contest
1st Place: Akina Yesha Mae Silos-Sto Niño National High School, Parañaque City
2nd Place: Leira Anya D. Narciso- Canumay East National High School, Valenzuela City
3rd Place: Hannah Grace B. Buban- San Juan National High School, San Juan City
Recycling Contest
1st Place: Norine Joy Pineda- Commonwealth High School, Quezon City
2nd Place: Kurt Robert F. Advincula-San Juan City Academic Senior High School, San Juan City
3rd Place: John Lloyd O. Catalan-Filimon Lizan National High School, Navotas City
Mr. Marlon Henson B. Obligado of OCD-NCR, Mr. Kelvin John Gaen of DILG-NCR, Mr. John Jasper O. Forbes of DSWD-NCR, and Ms. Jan Rose C. Bravo of DOST-NCR served as the judges of the contests.
In his opening remarks read by Ms Rodella Rosario R Rodriguez, Acting Chief, DRRMD of OCD-NCR, Regional Director Romulo M Cabantac, Jr. highlighted the significant role of the youth in building disaster resilience in NCR.
He extended his gratitude to DepEd NCR for their support and assistance to the Capacity Building and Training Section.
After two years of conducting the NDRM through online platforms, participants, coaches, parents, and guests were delighted to attend the activity face to face. (PIA-NCR)
