QUEZON CITY, (PIA) -- The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) on Thursday said a total of 15,174 security forces will be deployed for the first State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Ferdinand "Bongbong" R. Marcos, Jr. scheduled on July 25 at the Batasang Pambansa in Quezon City.
NCRPO chief Police Major General Felipe R. Natividad said the security template that will be used for the upcoming SONA will be the same implemented during his historic inauguration last June 30.
Breaking down the numbers, the NCRPO said, from the total number of security personnel that will be deployed, 9,919 will come from the organic Metro Manila police personnel, 1,891 from PNP support units, and 3,364 from other coordinating agencies, and other peacekeeping partners.
The Metro Manila police force will also tap other law enforcement and government agencies, advocacy support groups, and force multipliers to boost other details of security the component.
A dialogue with the different community leaders, stakeholders, and civil society leaders will also be carried out to address concerns. Likewise, a “No Permit, No Rally” will be implemented.
The Metro Manila shield will also be reactivated to "secure the metropolis from the entry of criminal elements and terrorist groups who might take advantage of the situation."
Moreover, the 34 border control points will be activated to secure southern, eastern, and northern boundaries in cooperation and collaboration with neighboring regional police offices and AFP counterparts.
Meanwhile, rerouting of thoroughfares is also expected and shall be immediately disseminated to the public. A gun ban will likewise be implemented.
PMGen Natividad assured that the security framework, which resulted in the success of previous major events like national and local elections, and the recently held inauguration will be adopted.
The NCRPO chief also promised the public that the NCRPO will undertake its best efforts to make the first president’s report peaceful, safe, and memorable for all Filipinos. (NCRPO/PIA-NCR)
