Manila receives award for recycling election paraphernalia

CALOOCAN CITY, (PIA) --The City of Manila, through the Department of Public Services (DPS), was recognized for the "Best Practices on Upcycling" by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).

DPS Officer-in-Charge Kenneth Amurao received the award during the Solid Waste Management Summit at Manila Hotel on Thursday, July 14, 2022.

The said award was bestowed upon the City of Manila for its efforts to convert used election paraphernalia into usable items such as fans, eco bags, and fertilizers through the "Tarpaulin mo, Ireresiklo ko!" project.

Aside from the said project, DPS has also provided livelihood upcycling projects wherein straws, plastic wrappers, used magazines, papers, and such are turned into usable goods. (MPIO/PIA-NCR)
