The National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) is pleased to announce the theme for History Month in August 2022: “Kasaysayan, Kamalayan, Kaunlaran” (History, Consciousness, Development).
The theme invites the Filipino people to look at history as a means of achieving social and economic development by learning its lessons.
In the coming days, the NHCP will officially unveil the History Month logo and posters. It will also upload on its website the line-up of activities which it prepared together with members of the Local Historical Committees Network.
The NHCP also encourages all government agencies, institutions of learning, and other organizations to organize activities in line with History Month.
August was designated as History Month through Proclamation No. 339 signed by President Benigno S. Aquino III on 16 February 2012.
The NHCP is the national government agency mandated to promote and preserve Philippine historical heritage through research and publication, conservation, marking of historic sites and structures, and administration of national shrines and museums. (NHCP/PIA-NCR)
