VMLP-NCR proclaims new set of officers

QUEZON CITY, (PIA) --The Vice Mayors’ League of the Philippines (VMLP) held the Regional Assembly Elections for the National Capital Region for the term 2022-2025 on July 13, 2022 in Makati Diamond Hotel and Residences, Makati City.

Facilitated by the Regional Assembly Election Secretariat with DILG-NCR Regional Director Maria Lourdes L. Agustin, CESO III acting as the COMELEC Chairperson and VMLP National Executive Director Christopher C. Abcede, together with Malabon Vice Mayor Bernard C. Dela Cruz and Muntinlupa Vice Mayor Artemio A. Simundac, constituted the VMLP Regional Assembly COMELEC.

With thirteen Vice Mayors present to vote, the following were nominated, unopposed, and proclaimed winners via unanimous decision:

Regional Chairperson:  Monique Yazmin Maria Q. Lagdameo, Vice Mayor of the City of Makati

Regional Vice Chairperson: Carmelita A. Abalos, Vice Mayor of the City of Mandaluyong

Regional Secretary General: April Aguilar-Nery, Vice Mayor of the City of Las Piñas

Regional Treasurer: Lorena C. Natividad-Borja, Vice Mayor of the City of Valenzuela

Regional Auditor: Bernard C. Dela Cruz, Vice Mayor of the City of Malabon

Regional PRO: Jose Warren P. Villa, Vice Mayor of the City of San Juan

Regional Board of Directors:

Anna Karina R. Teh-Limsico, Vice Mayor of the City of Caloocan

John Marvin “Yul Servo” C. Nieto, Vice Mayor of the City of Manila

Marion S. Andres, Vice Mayor of the City of Marikina

Artemio A. Simundac, Vice Mayor of the City of Muntinlupa

Tito M. Sanchez, Vice Mayor of the City of Navotas

Joan A. Villafuerte, Vice Mayor of the City of Parañaque

Waldetrudes “Ding” Del Rosario, Vice Mayor of the City of Pasay

Arvin Ian V. Alit, Vice Mayor of the City of Taguig

Regional Chairperson Lagdameo assured the members of the League that a seamless transition from the previous to the newly elected set of officers and members of the Regional Board shall be effected, and that support for the League’s advocacy in articulating and crystallising issues affecting city and municipal government administration, especially those concerning local legislations, shall continue uninterrupted.

RD Agustin highlighted, in her closing message, the responsibility of the Vice Mayors and the League in the implementation of the Mandanas-Garcia Ruling of the Supreme Court:

“The role that Vice Mayors all over the country will play in an era of devolved functions and responsibilities will depend on how clearly the VMLP envisions and articulates its collective position on matters of health, education, social amelioration, economic development and public order, among others,” Agustin said.
