MAASIN CITY, (PIA) -- At least 10 schools in different locations became sites of the health caravan organized by the Philippine Red Cross - Southern Leyte Chapter.
This was learned from Jonas Maco, chapter administrator, in a report by Dahlia Abiera Orit aired over Radio Pilipinas-Sogod, Saturday, July 16.
Around 3,000 individuals had benefitted out of the mobile health caravan mostly students, parents, and teachers of the place, Maco said, adding that they chose schools as venues for easy access.
The schools were Maasin Central School, Manhilo National High School, Macrohon Central School, Asuncion Integrated School, Villa Jacinta National Technical Vocational High School, Ichon National High School, Padre Burgos Central School, Tangkaan Elementary School, San Juan Elementary School, and Tomas Oppus Pilot School.
Among the medical services that were extended included the following: blood typing, free consultation, giving of hot meals, promotion of proper hygiene, First Aid and Basic Life Support orientation, disaster risk reduction awareness campaign, and mental health awareness.
The occasion also served as opportune time for discussion on Red Cross Youth volunteerism and recruitment, basic ambulance orientation, and information drive on membership accident assistance benefits. (LDL/MMP/PIA Southern Leyte)
