OSYDA conducts 12th meeting, capacity assessment

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA)--The Out-of-School Youth Development Alliance of Cagayan de Oro City (OSYDA) in collaboration with U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Opportunity 2.0 and Education Development Center, recently administered a capacity assessment and YDA report card along with its 12th Meeting in order to measure improvement and the performance since its inception.

The activity was participated by different member-government offices. Dr. Miriam Pahm, senior education and youth development adviser, said the results of the organizational capacity assessment will guide the YDA in which specific areas to address towards improved delivery of services. 

OSYDA seeks to provide opportunities towards zeroing out the out-of-school youth through implementing strengthened educational and technical skills development systems, entrepreneurship, employment and other opportunities.

There are six dimensions in which the OSYDA’s performance is based. These are governance, strategic direction,planning and services delivery, resource mobilization, networking and advocacy, and sustainability.

During the first day, the group discussed on objectives of the workshop, background and rationale of the YDA Report Card and review of the capacity assessment tool. There was also a gathering of reflections in which dimensions the YDA do well and what were the success factors, dimensions where the YDA need to improve and the respective challenges. The alliance also reviewed its action plan in an aim of improving the organization's functionality.

In its 12th Meeting with the presence of OSYDA chairperson and outgoing City Mayor Oscar S. Moreno, a ceremonial turnover event of OSYDA helm was held as well as the presentation of OSYDA accomplishments to the outgoing city mayor.

Moreno shared the city government’s vision for the out-of-school youth of Cagayan de Oro City, the programs and projects crafted and implemented for their development, and how OSYDA also embodied the solutions envisioned towards OSYs’ successes. He thanked the OSYDA, USAID Opportunity 2.0, and EDC for the efforts in giving second chances to the out-of-school youth.

The group also focused on measuring organizational improvement, understanding the performance indicators, overview of the tool and domains, and discussion on scoring templates and rubrics. (IJBD/PIA-10)
