MANJUYOD, Negros Oriental, August 3 (PIA) -- More than a thousand residents of Brgy. Candabong, this town were able to avail of basic government services during the Serbisyo Caravan conducted by the Philippine National Police (PNP) and its partner agencies on August 2.
Some of the services extended during the activity include free medical consultation, COVID-19 vaccination, enrollment for public elementary and high school students and technical-vocational courses of Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), civil registration, police clearance application, and other wellness services such as manicure, pedicure, haircut, and massage.
Residents also brought home packs of rice and relief goods, free medicine, and vegetable seedlings while children were also given slippers, school supplies, and some kiddie loot bags after the Serbisyo Caravan.
The event was in line with the government’s whole-of-nation approach under End Local Communist Armed Conflict (ELCAC).
Barangay Candabong has been included in the list of the priority areas for government convergence efforts under ELCAC in 2021.
PNP Provincial Director PCol. Germano Mallari said the Serbisyo Caravan is a testament to the government’s sincerity and commitment to reach out to far-flung communities and deliver essential services to the public.
“Mao ni ang tinuod na gobyerno. Mao ni ang serbisyo sa tinuod na gobyerno. Dili nato tuohan ang gikan sa New People’s Army (NPA). Ilang giingon naa silay gobyerno. Nakita naman nato during sa typhoon Odette kinsa man ang nitabang ninyo? Ang atong gobyerno sa Pilipinas (We would like to show you that this is the real government and this how the government delivers its services. Let’s not believe the NPA when they say they have a government. Who helped you after Odette? It’s the government of the Philippines,” Mallari said.


Other agencies that offered services in the Serbisyo Caravan include the Department of Education, Integrated Provincial Health Office of the Province of Negros Oriental, Department of Agriculture through the Municipal Agriculturist Office, Local Civil Registrar, Department of the Interior and Local Government, Department of Social Welfare and Development, 303rd Infantry Brigade of the Philippine Army, and the Municipal Government of Manjuyod.
Mayor Raffy Andaya together with other municipal councilors also attended the event.
Andaya also gaive a message to his constituents and cited his support to this endeavor.
Governor Pryde Henry Teves also gave his message of support to the activity and assured residents of Brgy. Candabong that the provincial government will also implement development projects in their area and repair bridges that were damaged by Typhoon Odette last year.
PNP is eyeing to conduct similar activities in San Pedro in Sta. Catalina, and Luyang, Mabinay. (RAL/PIA7 Negros Oriental)
