DOH7 eyes to fully vax 90% of senior citzens in CV

CEBU CITY, Cebu, August 5 (PIA) -- The Department of Health (DOH) in Central Visayas aims to fully vaccinate at least 90% of the senior citizens and administer 50% first booster shots of the general population.

This was disclosed by DOH7 Assistant Regional Director Sophia Mancao during the recent Association of Government Information Officers (AGIO7) general assembly held at the DOH7 compound in Cebu City.

In her message, Mancao encouraged the information officers to support them in increasing the vaccination coverage the region to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

She also shared the government’s new vaccination program dubbed “PinasLakas,” which aims to increase the number of Filipinos who have been given a COVID-19 booster shot and to help maintain the country's wall of immunity.

DOH7 successfully launched the “PinasLakas” vaccination campaign led by DOH Assistant Secretary Roi Ferrer and DOH7 Regional Director Jaime Bernandas in Naga City, Cebu.

The event was attended by more than 100 residents from children to senior citizens in the area who availed of the free vaccination.

It capped with the signing of Pledge of Commitment in support to the Presidential Directives on the COVID-19 Strategies for the first 100 days of the new administration, including its programs, projects and activities in pursuit of the vision of the Universal Health Care Law. (HFG/PIA7)
