QUEZON CITY, (PIA) -- The Parañaque City Government formally opened its new fisherman’s wharf and state-of-the-art Parañaque River promenade, Tuesday, Aug. 16, new tourism attractions in the city found in Barangay La Huerta.

The 3-storey building, also known as Bulungan sa Parañaque, has a space intended for fresh seafood market, office space, and a wide multipurpose area, perfect for celebrations and gatherings.
It is a wholesale fish market where fish prices are secretly set in a process called bulungan, and sold to the highest bidder.

Meanwhile, just a stone-throw away from the new infrastructure, tourists can view the Las Piñas-Parañaque Critical Habitat and ecotourism area, and the 450 meters Parañaque River.
The Las Piñas-Parañaque Critical Habitat and ecotourism area, commonly known as the Las Piñas-Parañaque Wetland Park, is a protected area at the coasts of the cities of Las Piñas and Parañaque. It is declared as an important agent in conserving biological diversity by the Ramsar Convention of UNESCO.

Along with this, the new Parañaque River promenade, which will serve as a pathway from Quirino Avenue to the fisherman’s wharf, was also inaugurated.
Mayor Eric Olivarez graced the inauguration ceremony, together with Vice Mayor Joan Villafuerte, and First District Representative Edwin L. Olivarez.
The Parañaque River promenade is now open to residents and non-residents alike and is expected to be one of the emerging tourist sites in the city. (PIA-NCR)
