CEBU CITY, Cebu, Sept.5 (PIA) – The Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency (PNVSCA) is once again looking for outstanding volunteers for this year’s Search for Outstanding Volunteers (SOV 2022).
Established in 2001, the SOV is an annual initiative that seeks to recognize and honor exceptional Filipino volunteers and volunteer organizations for their exemplary performance and accomplishments in empowering communities and promoting volunteerism as a way of life and as an essential key to nation-building.
This is also the PNVSCA's strategy to carry out the advocacy work mandated by Republic Act No. 9418, also known as the Volunteer Act of 2007, which calls for the promotion of volunteerism as a vehicle for development.
The search will cover volunteer programs, projects, and activities that took place in the Philippines, but it will not include projects that are a part of the National Service Training Program or extension programs of academic institutions, volunteer work done for family members, and volunteer work done for religious or indoctrination purposes.
The SOV 2022 has the following categories:
- Individual category
- Organization category
- Special Award for the Local Government Unit
The deadline for the submission of nominations would be on Sept. 15, 2022.
Nomination forms, general guidelines, and the Regional Search Committee directory may be downloaded from https://bit.ly/SOV2022NOMINATION and https://www.pnvsca.gov.ph/?page_id=3370
The public can also send their queries to info@pnvsca.gov.ph.
Updates will also be posted on the PNVSCA’s Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/PNVSCA.
Launched in July, the search will culminate with an awarding ceremony during the celebration of National Volunteer Month in December 2022. (RGC/PIA7 Cebu)
