Dgte marks 30th Nat'l Family Week

DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental, Sept. 13 (PIA) -- Honoring the Filipino Family and its contribution to nation-building, the Family Week Steering Committee led by the City Social Welfare and Development Office has set the activities of the week-long National Family Week celebration on Sept. 26 to Oct 2, 2022.

Kicking off the observance of the 30th National Family Week, a Kapihan sa PIA Forum will be held on Sept. 26 to tackle the role of a Filipino family as a foundation of the Philippine society.

The topic is in line with this year’s celebration theme, “Urbanisasyon at Pamilyang Pilipino: Magka-agapay sa Pagpapatibay at Pagpapaunlad ng Bansa.”

The steering committee is also inviting the public to join the Family Fun Run and Healthy Dancing on Sept. 25 at 6:00 a.m. at the Pantawan People’s Park Rizal Boulevard.

Cash prizes are at stake for the participants as part of the opening of the celebration. 

Among the activities also lined up for the weeklong celebration include Ecumenical Service at the Church of the Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on Sept. 26; Poster Making Contest (Junior High School Category) on Sept. 27 at Department of Education Dumaguete; Family Dialogue between parents and children on Sept. 28 at the Church of the Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints; Skills Training on Sept. 29 at OSCA Office; and Medical Clinic on Sept. 30 at Tinago Covered Court and Evaluation Culmination Program on Sept. 30. 

Physical fitness enthusiasts will have the chance to join the free Family Fun Run and Healthy Dancing.

Registration is ongoing until Sept. 21 at the City Social Welfare and Development Office. (JCT/PIA7 Negros Oriental)
