Marcos Jr thanks those who commemorated late father's 105th birthday

CALOOCAN CITY, (PIA) -- President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. thanked those who joined in commemorating the 105th birthday of his father, former President Ferdinand Marcos Sr. on Sunday, Sept. 11.

The mass was held at the Libingan ng mga Bayani in Taguig City, where the remains of the former President lie.

Besides Marcos Jr., his sister Irene and former first lady Imelda Marcos attended the mass.

Other relatives, close friends and former Presidential Security Group close-in officers of Marcos Sr. were also present.

"Thank you for joining us every year to refresh his memory and extend your support. You can count on my honest and efficient service to repay your trust and confidence," Marcos Jr.'s message. in his Facebook post.

The President vowed to do everything in his power to improve the state of the Philippines and his countrymen which, he said, was also his father's dream.

"Let us keep that flame alive. It is reborn. Let us keep it strong and fight. And let us guide through all that we do in the future in the service of our beloved Filipinos," said the President.

Meanwhile, in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte, Senator Imee Marcos led the feeding program that was part of her father's birthday celebration.

Malacañang also declared Monday, Sept. 12, a special non-working day in Ilocos Norte to pay tribute and commemorate the birth anniversary of Marcos Sr. (PIA-NCR)
