SEC, PIA7 ink MOA to promote financial literacy, investor protection programs

CEBU CITY, Cebu, Sept. 14 (PIA) -- The Securities and Exchange Commission Cebu Extension Office (SEC-CEO) and the Philippine Information Agency (PIA7) signed a Memorandum of Agreement on Sept. 13 for the project entitled “SEC Communication, Advocacy and Network (SEC-CAN! ).”

This will highlight the fundamentals of investing, financial literacy, investor protection, and investment scams.

Under the said agreement, SEC Cebu Extension Office will lead the implementation of the project by preparing the modules, programs, and course design and will provide resource persons and facilitators.

Meanwhile, the PIA7 will help and assist in the information dissemination and promotion of SEC-CAN! programs and other investor protection programs of the SEC.

With the signing of the agreement, the PIA7 became the fourth partner of the SEC-CEO and the first regional line agency partner for its SEC Campaign Network in the region against investment scams and in promoting financial literacy to the public.

SEC-CEO Director Sheara Lupango-Tamayo and PIA7 Regional Head Fayette Riñen led the MOA signing at the PIA7 Regional Office in Cebu City.

SEC-CEO also presented a plaque of appreciation to PIA7 as one of the “Investor Champions" in the region. (RGC/PIA7 Cebu)
