DOH7 aims to achieve 'PinasLakas' Campaign target

CEBU CITY, Cebu, Sept. 19 (PIA) -- The Department of Health Central Visayas Center for Health Development (DOH7) continues to collaborate with the local government units, private sector, other partners and stakeholders in implementing the stronger nationwide booster vaccination campaign of the new administration, the "PinasLakas" Vaccination Campaign.

Pursuant to the Presidential Directive for the first 100 days, DOH7 is eyeing to achieve its regional target of 90% primary series vaccination coverage for the A2 priority group or senior citizens, and 50% first booster coverage among the general population.

In Central Visayas, the target for 90% primary series vaccination coverage among the A2 priority group is at 202,409, while the target for 50% first booster coverage among the general population is at 2,112,241.

As of Sept. 11, there were 2,074 individuals under the A2 priority group who had already been vaccinated with the last dose of the primary series, with a remaining target of 200,335.

In the same period, there were also 80,807 individuals who belong to the eligible population who were already inoculated with the COVID-19 first booster dose, with a remaining target of 2,032,154.

"The DOH and the LGUs are working hand in hand for this campaign. We conducted microplanning to review and update the Covid-19 vaccination plan in order to come up with a more efficient Covid-19 mobilization for this campaign. We continuously analyze the data, the performance of the region, and we continue to assess which are the priority areas," said DOH7 Medical Officer III Dr. Roshelle Cris Corcino as she shared updates on the "PinasLakas" Vaccination Campaign during the Kapihan sa PIA interview on Sept. 14.

With 19 days left before the end of the "PinasLakas" campaign, the DOH7 is confident that they can reach the target by working together with their partners and stakeholders.

They will continue their strong efforts in educating the public on the benefits of the COVID-19 vaccine.

According to DOH7, the vaccination for the "PinasLakas" Campaign is ongoing in several malls and other strategic venues located in the priority areas.

They urged the public to go to these areas and receive their COVID-19 vaccines.

The public can access their primary series and first booster dose at SM Seaside, SM City Malls, Ayala Center Cebu, Robinsons Galleria, and at the DOH7 Regional Office Vaccination Site.

The DOH will also be conducting a week-long vaccination drive dubbed as "Bakunahang Bayan: PINASLAKAS Vaccination Days" from Sept. 26 to 30.

This is to facilitate the rapid mobilization of COVID-19 vaccination services among all eligible population.

"We hope that through this campaign, we can encourage more people to advocate and educate our fellow countrymen to understand and to know the importance of our COVID-19 vaccination, to protect our citizens and to protect our country," Corcino added. (RGC/PIA7 Cebu)
