MANILA, (PIA) -- No dams were damaged when Super Typhoon Karding hit Luzon over the weekend.

According to National Irrigation Administration (NIA) Administrator Benny Antiporda, based on their monitoring, no dams in the typhoon-ravaged areas were affected.

However, Antiporda said that right now Pantabangan and Magat Dam are being closely monitored due to heavy rains.

He said only the Bulo Dam located in Brgy. Malibay San Miguel, Bulacan had an overflow but it did not cause severe flooding in the area. This dam is an open dam with a continuous flow of water from the province of Nueva Ecija.

Meanwhile, Antiporda assured that the NIA continues to work with local government units (LGUs) in various areas, especially in Luzon, to strictly monitor the state of dams in the country. (PIA-NCR)
