TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol, Sept. 29 (PIA) -- The Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) Regional Office 7 is set to open an extension office in the municipality of Panglao.

This after Panglao Mayor Edgardo Arcay granted the request of MARINA-7 Regional Director Engr. Emmanuel Carpio for an office space to be used as their extension office in the town.

Arcay revealed that the said extension office will be situated in the old municipal building of Panglao, in front of St. Augustine Parish.

During his courtesy visit on Sept. 26, Carpio also discussed with the mayor their plan to put up a maritime training center if the town can provide a land where the 4-story building will be built.

Arcay, a former ship captain before entering politics, assured that they are ready to provide the necessary land to fulfill MARINA’s plan.

This would be big help to the Boholano seafarers as they can save money in processing their requirements as the extension office will help local seafarers to process their certificates and licenses without having the need to travel to Cebu or other MARINA offices.

Carpio thanked Arcay for assisting MARINA in its objective to bring the services of the agency closer to the people. (ECB/PIA7 Bohol)
