MANILA, (PIA) -- Malabon City Mayor Jeannie Sandoval today urged residents and workers in the city to avail of the government’s free vaccination for themselves and their families in the continued fight against the spread of COVID-19.

As we recover from the pandemic, we strongly encourage everyone eligible in Malabon to do their part to keep themselves and their loved ones better protected from COVID-19. Keeping our communities safe against COVID-19 is a collective effort and I thank all those who have already completed their vaccination for helping keep our city safe and healthy,” Mayor Jeannie said.

This, after the Malabon City City Health Department (CHD) intensified its efforts to ramp up the primary series vaccination for senior citizens, as well as encourage all eligible citizens to get their COVID-19 booster shots.

The city wide campaign supports the roll-out of the PinasLakas COVID-19 Vaccination Campaign launched by the Department of Health (DOH). The new campaign under the Presidential directive aims to get 70 million Filipinos vaccinated by the end of October to have an added layer of protection against COVID-19 for themselves and those around them.

In line with the PinasLakas campaign, the City of Malabon targets to vaccinate 201 A2:Senior Citizens with the second dose.

Malabon’s CHD has been conducting door-to-door vaccination to make it accessible for senior citizens and those with comorbidity to get vaccinated without leaving their homes.

Along with the release of Sandoval’s Executive Order allowing the voluntary wearing of face masks in open spaces, the local chief executive has also been strongly urging everyone to get vaccinated and get boosted.

Aiming to reach 58,125 of its eligible population with the first booster shot, CHD strategically located vaccination sites in areas with high foot traffic and places close to residential homes.

Those who are eligible have the option to go to the City Hall every Friday, or get their vaccines inside the malls, health centers, public market and even at the plaza.

Adopting a setting-based approach, the CHD also partners with schools and private businesses to have vaccinations sites in order to encourage employees and students to roll up their sleeves and get boosted. With vaccination sites in transport terminals, facilities such as BJMP, Bahay Pag-asa and Bahay Sandigan, Malabon has made it possible for everyone eligible to step up and get vaccinated. (PIA-NCR)
