CALOOCAN CITY, (PIA)--The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor), through its Agricultural Production Section participated in the 2-day KADIWA organized by the Department of Agriculture at the SM Center Muntinlupa last October 1-2, 2022.
KADIWA is DA’s marketing initiative implemented through the Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance (AMAS), which seeks to empower the farming community by providing a direct and effective farm-to-consumer food supply chain.
According to CCInsp. Rafael Tampican BuCor’s Agricultural Production Section head, they been growing various crops such as oyster mushrooms, cucumbers, string beans, and mung beans as part of the reformation programs of our Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL).
Tampican said they will actively participate in various agricultural programs that will help their clientele acquire livelihood skills in preparation for their release to rejoin the community.
Other Farmer producers and farmer groups were also invited to the event to showcase their different products.
KADIWA’s main objective is to help farmers sell and be able to produce directly to the consumer without the intervention of middlemen or traders. (BuCor/PIA-NCR)
