ATI7 sets up FITS center in Dgte

DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental, Oct. 10 (PIA) -- The Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) of the Department of Agriculture Region 7 (DA7) has established a Farmer’s Information and Technology Service (FITS) center in Dumaguete City for local farmers and fisherfolks to access the latest agricultural information and techniques.

Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo lauded the ATI for the turnover of several ICT equipment and information education campaign (IEC) materials to the city that will be used for the FITS Center.

The ATI has also provided equipment that includes a laptop, GPS, Samsung tablet, pocket wifi, printer, and hundreds of IEC materials on science, technology-based and indigenous technologies from successful farmer-scientists to boost production.

It is hoped that with the establishment of the FITS center, farmers will be provided with science-based information and technology services to help ensure food security.

Councilor Karissa Tolentino-Maxino (Deputy Mayor for Livelihood), City Administrator Lilani Ramon, leaders of the different farmers associations, and staff of the City Agriculture Office led by Maria Victoria Umbac were present during the turnover of the equipment and IEC materials.
