QUEZON CITY, (PIA) – In Celebration of World Teachers’ Day, Mayor Francis Zamora distributed P3,000 worth of financial assistance to 636 teachers and school personnel of the 13 San Juan City public schools at the San Juan Gym located in the San Juan Elementary School.
Aside from the financial assistance, the teachers also received health kits which includes gallons of alcohol, face masks, oximeter, vitamins, thermometer and nasal spray.
According to Mayor Zamora, the assistance is the city government's simple small way of showing its gratitude to the teachers.
“This is our small way of saying thank you to our beloved public school teachers and acknowledging their efforts and sacrifices in order to provide high quality education to our children here in San Juan City,” he said.
Apart from the financial assistance, teachers also got free meals and flu vaccines.
Last August 22, San Juan City started 100 percent face to face classes in all its public schools. The city was given permission to do so due to its high vaccination rate, with those already having completed their primary doses now at 265.5 percent and those with 1st booster at 112 percent of target population.
Zamora also acknowledged the challenges teachers have faced during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“San Juan City will strive to provide our teachers with the necessary tools to make it easier for them to impart knowledge to our children. We know that their difficult job has been further complicated by the pandemic,” the Mayor stated.
By November of this year, all classrooms in all 13 public schools of San Juan City will be installed with 55-inch Smart TVs and will have WIFI and Fiber Optic Internet connection along with the common areas. (PIA-NCR)
