TANDAG CITY, Surigao del Sur -- Major General Wilbur C. Mamawag, Commander of the 4th Infantry “Diamond” Division, and team paid a courtesy visit to Surigao del Sur Provincial Governor Alexander T. Pimentel at the Provincial Governor’s Office, Capitol Hills in Tandag City, on October 6, 2022.
The said visit tackled the peace and development agendas for the socio-economic situations of vulnerable sectors, particularly in the identified Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDAS) in the province. In addition, discussion on the current status and thrusts of the Armed Forces of the Philippines were presented to Governor Pimentel such as the Support to Barangay Development Program (SBDP), the peace initiatives, and other security concerns.
Gov. Pimentel expressed his gratitude for the Diamond troopers' unwavering commitment to safeguard the communities from the atrocities of the communist terrorist group (CTG) and other lawless elements.
To continue fostering partnerships to end local communist and armed conflict (ELCAC), both officials have committed to do their part.
The commitment towards peace and development within the province and the rest of Caraga Region, the plans and collaborations as well of the 4ID and Provincial-local government unit of Surigao del Sur were also tackled.
