TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol, Oct. 12 (PIA) -- The province will soon have its first high-rise public housing building for indigent families as the City Government of Tagbilaran broke ground their Tenement Housing project on Oct. 11.
Tagbilaran City Mayor Jane Yap led the groundbreaking ceremony of the four-storey facility which will be built at Sitio Candait in Brgy. Dampas, the pilot area for the city’s social housing program.
An initial P33 million budget is allocated for the project.
The city government will soon bid out the construction of the project to be overseen by the City Engineering Office.
The tenement will house around 80 urban poor families in the city with a monthly amortization.
Yap earlier signed a memorandum of agreement with the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) for the latter’s “Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino: Zero Informal Settlers Families Program for 2028.”
The agency, through this initiative, will extend a monthly subsidy of P1,500 for each beneficiary family for their amortization.
A committee will be formed by the city to process applications for potential occupants. (ECB/PIA7 Bohol)
