CEBU CITY, Cebu, Oct. 13 (PIA) -- After a two-year hiatus brought by the pandemic, the face-to-face Gabii sa Kabilin (GSK) will be returning this year.
Around 20 museums and heritage sites in the cities of Cebu, Mandaue, and Talisay will be opening their doors on Oct. 21 from 6:00 p.m. to 12:00 midnight for the said event.
Special activities and presentations by selected participating museums and heritage sites will be featured in the highly anticipated Gabii sa Kabilin.
During the event, participants will also be treated to cultural performances, exhibits, children’s activities, contests, food markets, and other activities.
The GSK theme for this year, "Padayon," attempts to emphasize the reasons why the Cebuano race, spirit, and personality have persisted and thrived despite the numerous crises and difficulties.
It also honors regional cultural institutions, including museums, art galleries, and cultural landmarks that serve as examples of the resilient, upbeat, and inventive nature of Cebuanos.
Target participants for this year’s GSK are around 4,000 people.
As of Oct. 12, there are already more than 2,000 individuals who have bought tickets for the event.
GSK is initiated by the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. in partnership with the local government units of Cebu City, Mandaue City, and Talisay City and with the support of the Philippine National Police, Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases, Cebu City Traffic Operations Management, and the Cebu Chapter of Radio Emergency Assistance Volunteer Organization.
